LaRue was staff photographer for Texas A&M University annual and news publications as well as a stringer for regional papers and Associated Press and United Press International while studying Architecture / Environmental Design.
Graduated in 1987 and went to work as a Graphic Designer for Golfsmith Inc. producing two 250+ page product catalogues, 1 million+ for international distribution. Soon after LaRue spent a couple of years as a Medical Illustrator for the Texas Veterinary Medical Center producing technical and medical illustrations for regional and nation publication including Amercan Veterinary Medical Association and the Marine Mammal Stranding Network.
Doug moved to Austin to be an Art Director for the Littlest Book Company. The Littlest Book Company eventually became LBCo. Publishing and Doug became Creative Director. (Press Info) Since 1994 LaRue produced art and design for publishers like Holt Rinehart Winston, Thomas Publishing, Rector Duncan Advertising and Steck Vaughn Publishing as well as LBCo. Publishing. 1996 LaRue became Co- Owner and Creative Director of Capitol City Publishing, L.L.C. producing an Arts & Entertainment magazine and web site now currently known as MusicTexas.
LaRue currently provides consultation and media design for various publications of all sizes.
